New UCL Cruciform Hub officially opens

23 January 2015

The Cruciform Hub was officially opened by Professor Jane Dacre, President of the Royal College of Physicians and Dr Deborah Gill, Interim Director of the UCL Medical School, on 15 January 2015.

The Cruciform Hub opened following a year-long refurbishment to create a new teaching and learning space for UCL students and staff, as well as NHS staff working at University College London Hospital.

The hub provides a new medical library within the lower ground floor of the Grade II-listed Cruciform Building, and includes a library, quiet study spaces, group work space, computer clusters and teaching rooms. It also features two exhibition walls, which showcase medical artefacts from UCL Museums & Collections, together with medical illustrations from UCL Special Collections.

Entertainment during the evening was provided by the UCL Medical School choir.

The project was a collaboration between UCL Library Services, UCL Estates and other Professional Services divisions, in partnership with UCL Medical School.
