Dr Jamie Dean hosts Worldwide Cancer Research Curestarter
8 July 2024

Alice, who has a passion for science and research, was devastated to lose two of her grandparents in the space of just five weeks in 2021. After asking herself the question: “how can we cure cancer?”, Alice got in touch with Worldwide Cancer Research (WCR) to help her put together a school project on the subject.
Having heard about Alice’s passion for cancer research, Jamie, who is currently working on a WCR funded project, offered the opportunity for Alice to visit the lab and hear more about his research. Jamie and his team are working on tackling glioblastoma, a rare form of brain cancer, by understanding how giving doses of radiotherapy at particular time intervals can make treatment more effective.
