The day will begin with talks from National WISE Campaign and Athena Swan representatives, this will be followed by a panel discussion regarding the challenges and successes in the careers of a number of female scientists from across the STEMM fields. In the afternoon we will be joined by other university WISE groups to hear from them about what positive changes they have been able to make at their own universities and what challenges they face. We hope to open a discussion and community between these groups and allow for us to support each other through exchange of information.
The talks will close out with our keynote speaker, Clare Elwell, Professor of Medical Physics at UCL. Professor Elwell combines physics and engineering with mathematical modelling to image and monitor the human brain. This incredible multi-disciplinary work has led to innovation in a broad range of medical conditions from acute brain injury to autism, migraine, malaria, malnutrition and depression. Additonally, instrumentation development in her group has led to novel approaches for measuring oxygenation, haemodynamics and metabolism. Professor Elwell this year won the National WISE Campaign Research Award.
After the talks we ask you to join us for a wine reception so that we can continue the discussions.
A full programme will be available closer to the date.
