The Medlink study

The Medlink Conferences provide an opportunity for those considering applying to medical school to hear lectures and discuss what is involved in a medical career with a range of teachers and other students. We were fortunate in being able to distribute a questionnaire to more than 2,700 students who attended the conference in December 2003. The questionnaire  consisting of four A4 sides printed on a single folded sheet of A3 paper, asked about a range of topics. Its main innovation was a questionnaire that looked at the generic motivations of students for becoming doctors, in relation to a range of educational, demographic  and personality measures. The results of the study were published in a paper in 2006.
