Ema is course coordinator for the Marine Technology Education Consortium (MTEC) modules run within UCL. She also delivers lectures in both MTEC Module and in the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering MSc courses.

Ema joined UCL in 2011 after working in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering roles in industry for 15 years. Her prior positions have encompassed consultancy, shipyards and research & development.

After graduating in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Belgrade, Ema started her career in Brodotehnika Shipyard in Serbia. Working in the shipyard’s Design Department she was involved in various design projects for special purpose vessels, rising to the position of Design Department Manager. In 2001 she shifted sectors to luxury yacht design at the shipyard West Bay SonShip Yachts Ltd, Canada.

In 2002 Ema joined Oceanic Consulting Corporation Ltd., St. John’s, Canada where she provided consultancy services in the field of Naval Hydrodynamics. She was engaged in marine performance evaluation projects to assist in the development of clients’ designs, from preliminary analysis to comprehensive experimental and CFD modelling programs.

After relocating to the UK in 2008 she joined Houlder Ltd. as Senior Naval Architect serving the Offshore, Marine and Renewable Energy sector. She managed various design contracts (valued up to £1m) and led the team involved in various studies including: concept designs for offshore windfarm installation jack-up vessel and other offshore vessels; vessel major retrofit; a wind turbine access system patent development and a tidal turbine deployment system.
