Research summary

Rafa’s research activities are focused on the science of droplets & additive manufacturing; his works have confirmed whether, according to its fluid properties, a liquid can or not break up into droplets. He has also studied the impact of droplets on steady and moving liquids, and on soft and hard solids, these being important processes in printing and additive manufacturing. His most recent studies include methods to print complex cell structures within biogels, and the printing of latex structures. Moreover, Rafael’s research is often covered by the wider international media such as the New Scientist, Scientific American, Popular Mechanics, Physics Focus, Physics World, Wired, and The Engineer.
