The MB PhD programme allows a select group of students to develop their basic science skills from BSc to PhD whilst completing their undergraduate medical education.
The programme at UCL is one of the oldest in the UK. Its strength comes from the huge breadth of high quality basic and clinical research in the School of Life and Medical Sciences at UCL and in our partner, the Francis Crick Institute.
The programme offers some of the very best training environments in the world. We can offer projects that extend from basic molecular, structural and cellular biology through to 'big data' and clinical trials.
The choice of disciplines is large and includes world leading programmes in neuroscience, infection and immunity, cardiovascular science and cancer.
Our model is based on the success of MD-PhD programmes in the USA and it is my belief that there is no better way to prepare for a clinical academic career.
I strongly commend this opportunity to students who have already developed a strong interest in medical research.
