There are many models describing water waves, but finding solutions to these models is not an easy task. In my research, I mainly focus on computing solutions to Hamiltonian models for fluids and analysing their stability. I use a variety of numerical, asymptotic and analytical methods (and often in combination) to solve fully nonlinear models such as Euler's equations in two and three dimensions. Once I obtain the solutions, I check to see if they are spectrally stable. The stability results give insight on how likely it is that we could encounter these types of waves in the lab or even on the surface of the ocean.
