Department News, November 2021 Part 3

(1) Jonny Nicholson passed his viva on 15th October. His thesis, entitled "Projective modules over integral group rings and Wall’s D2 problem", was supervised by Frank Johnson. Congratulations Dr Nicholson!

(2) Carmen Cabrera Arnau passed her viva on 18th November. Her thesis, entitled "Mathematical modelling of social phenomena in urban areas", was supervised by Steve Bishop. Congratulations Dr Cabrera Arnau!

(3) Robert Bowles's latest paper with Georgios Pasias and Bernhard Scheichl - which is about flow around a wedge-shaped corner - has been getting lots of media coverage around the world because of its application to the "teapot effect":
