Department News, August 2021 Part 2

(1) Yongjo Lee passed his viva on 16th August. His thesis, titled "Defects of micropolar continua in Riemann-Cartan manifolds and its applications", was supervised by Christian Boehmer. Congratulations Dr Lee!

(2) Benjamin Aslan, Daniel Platt and David Sheard are joint winners of the UCL Doctoral School poster competition in the category Advances in Technology. This was for their poster entitled “Machine Learning with Symmetries” which is about their work using geometry to design efficient algorithms to solve group invariant machine learning problems. Well done everyone!
