Department News, February 2019

11 February 2019

1. Our undergraduate student Yohance Osborne was one of just four people to be shortlisted for the GCHQ Prize. The judging took place at the Tomorrow's Mathematicians Today 2019 conference, which was held at the University of Greenwich on Saturday 9th February. He was supported in this by Iain Smears.

2. Two colleagues have had grant success with NERC this week:

  • Ted Johnson, with the project "Stirring at the Walls - A dynamical boundary model for the ocean"
  • Gavin Esler, with the project "Planetary and Gravity Waves as Drivers of Sudden Stratospheric Warmings (PEGASUS)"

Congratulations to Yohance and Ian, Ted and Gavin!
