Issues of Admission and Funding are generally treated separately. In order to be considered for competitive internal departmental PhD funding you must first submit a PhD application. The main recurring sources of funding are listed below.
The departmental deadlines for the 2 rounds of combined applications for Teaching Assistantships, EPSRC Studentships, UCL Graduate Research Scholarships and Overseas Research Scholarships are usually in early December and mid-January, with interviews of shortlisted candidates within a few weeks of each deadline. These are usually advertised on the UCL website and on www.jobs.ac.uk from late November until early January each academic year.
Other funding is often available via individual supervisors' research grants and will be advertised separately on the UCL website and www.jobs.ac.uk.
Candidates are advised to sign up for job alerts on the UCL Vacancies and www.jobs.ac.uk websites.
All candidates who apply are automatically considered for all sources of funding that are available at the time of their application. All applications for the Mathematics PhD programme should be via UCL Graduate Application.
Teaching Assistantships
Most years we have a number of Teaching Assistantships that we offer to new PhD students. These provide tuition fees (at the Home/EU rate) and stipend for 4 years and require the recipient to teach for 25% of their time, while completing a PhD.
EPSRC Studentships
We receive an annual allocation of EPSRC PhD studentships.
There are also extra 4-year EPSRC studentships available for the 2021/22 academic year. Please note, the deadline for these studentships was Sunday 25th April 2021.
UCL Graduate Research Scholarship
This provides 3 years full stipend and tuition fees at the UK/EU rate.
LSGNT (London School of Geometry and Number Theory)
The London School of Geometry and Number Theory offers a fully-funded 4-year PhD programme and is a joint venture of Imperial College, King's College London and University College London with funding from EPSRC as an EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training.

Overseas Research Scholarship and Dean's Prize
Both of these provide funding to cover the difference between UK/EU fees and Overseas fees.
LMS Grace Chisholm Young Fellowships
The London Mathematical Society offers two fellowships each year to mathematicians who need support when their mathematical career is interrupted by family responsibilities, relocation of partner, or other similar circumstance.

Bell Burnell Graduate Schoolarship Fund
A scholarship fund by Professor Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell and the Institute of Physics (IOP) is available to support full or part-time graduates who wish to study towards a doctorate in physics and are from groups that are currently under-represented in physics: https://beta.iop.org/bellburnellfund#gref

Departmental Scholarships
