Supporting Academic Integrity in MAPS

One of the priority areas of our FEP this year is to support our departments in instilling the principles of Academic Integrity in their students, as appropriate to their local context.

To this end, we have recently disseminated a MAPS Academic Integrity Strategy 2024-25 developed by Fran Scott (MAPS DESE) and informed by our discussions in various committees from last year.
A tripartite approach is suggested, based on:

  • Communication
  • Competency
  • Self-regulation.

Each department can build their own strategy from a catalogue of suggestions, some of which can be supported by faculty, Arena or in conjunction with the ACC.
We are asking departments to share anything they develop in relation to this (slides/talks given to students, assessments that promote ethical decision-making, etc.) so that we can start to build up a bank of resources.
We also plan to partner with students to understand their perception of Academic Integrity, the use of AI for assessment and other tasks, and how we can support them.
