Our centre
The UCL Centre for Responsible Innovation empowers researchers at UCL and across the globe to embrace their responsibilities to society. Together we want to build a new future for innovation - around ethics, justice and democracy.
The UCL Centre for Responsible Innovation has been established in 2025 to understand and intervene in major challenges of innovation. We do this through research, capacity building and consultancy. We facilitate active engagement with scientists and technologists to build responsibility, reversibility and democracy into innovation systems. We work with decision makers across policy and civil society. Throughout our launch year we have three core goals.
We aim to:
- Build a global centre of excellence in responsible innovation research
- Work with decision makers in policy and civil society to align innovation with what societies really need
- Facilitate capacity-building that helps scientists and technologists engage with the public
