Research Synopsis
All living systems are subject to evolutionary forces. Mathematical modelling is essential to gain a quantitative understanding of evolutionary processes and to explain how emergent phenomena arise. In addition, methods from statistical mechanics can provide insights into how physical principles constrain the course of evolution. Within the theme, we study underlying evolutionary processes important for understanding many biological phenomena.
