I graduated from UCL in 2011 with an Earth Sciences MSci (international program), specialising in Geology. I achieved a first class honours level degree. I spent my third year studying at Arizona State University in Phoenix. Since graduating in 2011, I have got a job in the oil and gas industry. For the last six years I’ve been working for Neftex, a small petroleum consultancy based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The company was subsequently bought by Halliburton-Landmark.
I started my career working as a Geoscience Technical Assistant, where I learnt many new geoscience skills relevant to the industry including: wireline log interpretation, sequence stratigraphy, organic geochemistry, seismic horizon interpretation and biostratigraphy.
I have also been involved in a number of careers talks and fairs at UCL in the past, visiting four times. I currently work as a Regional Geoscientist for the Exploration Insights division of Halliburton, where I’m involved in producing a variety of regional-scale products, highlighting future play concepts, analysing prospective basins for hydrocarbon potential and providing geological insight for our clients. My job also gives me exposure to attend geological field trips to places like France and Ireland and the opportunity to present technical work within the company and at academic conferences.
