The Department congratulates Dr Carl O’Brien on being made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to the management of internationally-shared fisheries in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list 2017.
Dr O’Brien completed his PhD in the Department in the early 1980s under the supervision of Professor Mervyn Stone and Dr Rex Galbraith. He is currently Chief Fisheries Scientific Advisor at the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas).
