The review article “Bias in parametric estimation: reduction and useful side‐effects” by Dr Ioannis Kosmidis is one of the ten most accessed articles published in WIREs Computational Statistics in 2015.

This work stems from Dr Ioannis Kosmidis’ experience on methods for the reduction of estimation bias and discusses inferential pitfalls that can arise in the estimation of some well-used statistical models. The article reviews the still-expanding repository of methods that have been developed to reduce bias, and puts them under a unifying framework which can give rise to new methods for the task.
