  • Congratulations to Dr. Jack Carlyle!

Jack joined the Solar Group in September 2012 on an IMPACT studentship joint with the Max Planck Institute in Germany. He spent 50% of his time at MSSL working with Lidia van Driel-Gesztelyi and David Williams and the remaining time at the Max Planck Institute working with Davinna Innes and Sami Solanki. His thesis, entitled “Mass and Magnetic Field of Eruptive Solar Filaments” was examined by Dr. Ignacio Ferreras from MSSL and Dr. Duncan Mackay from the University of St. Andrews.

As of the start of January 2016, Jack has joined the Solar Physics group at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics in Oslo, Norway as a postdoctoral research associate.
