  • Research Fellow position in Quantum Polaritonics, Southampton

The Quantum Theory & Technology group at the University of Southampton invites applicants for a Research Fellow position in theoretical physics. The appointed candidate will work under the direction of Dr. Simone De Liberato in the field of quantum polaritonics, at the interface between quantum optics and condensed matter physics. We are seeking a candidate with strong analytical skills and previous expertise in the field of light-matter interactions.

The initial appointment is for 2 years, with considerable scope for further extensions. The target start date is between the 1st of April and the 1st of July 2015. Enquires about this position should be directed to Dr. Simone De Liberato (S.De-Liberato [at] soton.ac.uk).

The University of Southampton, standing next to the beautiful Southampton Common, and within an hour’s commute of both London and the New Forest national park, is one of the world’s-leading institutions for the study of light-matter interaction at the quantum level and the physics department is consistently ranked as one of the top in the UK.

We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community. The number of publications in high-impact-factor journals will not be a factor in assessing the applicant’s research accomplishments or potential.
