Over the last year members of the biostatistics research theme, in their role as the statistical lead, have been successful in several collaborative health research grants. Some of these are listed below. [8/12/11]

  • Prediction and management of cardiovascular risk for people with severe mental illnesses. (NIHR Programme, £2,029,234)
  • Developing an intervention to improve end of life care in advanced dementia (Marie Curie Programme Grant, £1,027,892)
  • Valuing Active Life in Dementia (NIHR Programme, £1,999,845)
  • Randomised controlled trial of the clinical and cost-effectiveness of a contingency management intervention for reduction of cannabis use and of relapse in early psychosis (HTA, £2,030,741)
  • Evaluation of Array Comparative genomic Hybridisation in prenatal diagnosis of fetal anomalies (NIHR EME, £1,286,730)
  • Optimising team functioning, preventing relapse and enhancing recovery in crisis resolution teams (NIHR Programme, £1,993,527)
  • The Essence of Specialist Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Cancer Care NIHR Programme (NIHR Programme, £2,000,000)
  • European Multicentre Tics in Children Studies [EU FP7, 6M euros]
  • The effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of sensory, psychological and behavioural interventions for managing agitation in older adults with dementia (NIHR HTA, £162,428)
  • A Randomised Placebo Controlled Trial of Trimetazidine Therapy in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, (NIHR UCLH/UCL Biomedical Research Centre, £138,983)
  • The effect of neo-adjuvant chemotherapy on exercise capacity and outcome following upper gastrointestinal cancer surgery (NIHR RfPB, £249,652)
  • A randomised controlled trial of a novel neuro-electrostimulator of salivary glands. (NIHR RfPB, £250,000)
