Cleanrooms

MSSL have a range of ISO certified cleanrooms that are used for space flight hardware assembly, integration and test requirements under strict environmental control requirements.

ISO Class 5 cleanroom

This cleanroom is used for the assembly, integration of the most contamination sensitive space flight hardware. The cleanroom was also recently used as a bioburden controlled area for the ExoMars PanCam flight hardware.

ISO Class 6 Cleanroom

The ISO 6 cleanroom houses the Optical Thermal vacuum test facility, the Low Energy Plasma Instrument calibration facility and the vacuum bakeout test facility.

ISO Class 8 Cleanroom

The ISO 8 cleanroom houses three ISO Class 5 airhsower’s and the CCD/focal plane array Calibration chambers.
