The central outcome of this CDT will be graduates who take on leadership roles in cutting-edge research and development, and in embedding this into a wider, coordinated response to the rise of infectious diseases. AMR is a complex problem that must be tackled on multiple fronts. The solution requires people who can lead and coordinate activities across government and industry, and across research disciplines ranging from microbiology and antimicrobial chemistry to building engineering.
AMR solutions require high-quality research professionals with in-depth, specialised scientific and engineering skills, but also with a breadth of knowledge covering different disciplines and wider aspects such as commercialisation/translation, public-health context, regulation and standardisation, implementation and adoption, public awareness and perception, and communication.
This Centre is funded by Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Biotechnology and Biological Services Research Council (BBRSC)
