LCN research is broadly organised into three areas:
- Planetcare: By harnessing the unique properties of nanomaterials, researchers can develop innovative solutions for sustainable development and a healthier planet.
- ICT: Development of new materials for computer chips and other electronic devices, as well as the creation of new data storage technologies that rely on nanoscale structures for innovative and transformative solutions for data processing, storage, and communication.
- Healthcare: The development of new drug delivery systems using nanoparticles to target specific cells in the body, along with the creation of medical devices and diagnostic tools based on nanotechnology, is leading to innovative and effective solutions for disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

Perez Martinez Research Group - Fabrication with Ionic Liquid Ion Sources
We create nanomanufacturing tech using ionic liquids, enabling fast material removal, precise nanoscale modification, and additive nanomanufacturing through focused sprays.
UCL Spintronics Group
We explore the spin degree of freedom to develop future nanoelectronic devices. Our research focuses on spin–orbit transport and nano-magnetism in low-symmetry and low-dimensional crystals.
Characterising the mechanical properties of living cells using AFM
Investigating the link between the cellular biopolymers, cell mechanics, and tissue rheology. Exploring how biochemical regulation can modulate cell and tissue mechanics and shape.
