Athena Swan
The London Centre for Nanotechnology has been recognised for its commitment to gender equality by achieving a Bronze Award as part of the Athena Swan Charter. This award is valid to July 2026.
The Athena SWAN Charter is a framework which is used across the globe to support and transform gender equality within higher education (HE) and research. Established in 2005 to encourage and recognise the commitment to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM), the Charter is now being used across the globe to address gender equality more broadly, and not just barriers to progression that affect women.
LCN ED&I Action Plan
LCN's ED&I Action Plan sets out specific, practical steps that we want to achieve as a department. Maintained by the ED&I lead, the action plan is updated regularly to show our progress.
Actions are added to the plan based on EDI charter needs (such as Athena Swan), feedback from the ED&I Committee, and suggestions from the wider LCN community.
