Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Fostering a diverse and inclusive learning and working environment is crucial to innovation, productivity and wellbeing, and therefore, the success of the LCN and UCL.
We are committed to supporting and actively promoting equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) for the entire LCN community, aiming to foster a positive environment where all staff and students can flourish. The LCN was awarded an Athena Swan Award in 2018 thanks to its efforts to improve gender equality. This award is valid until 2026 and we are working towards a renewal or even possibly a silver award.

EDI Support at UCL
There is a wealth of support available to our staff and students including:
• Flexible working opportunities to support work-life balance
• Support for working parents through maternity, paternity, parental and adoption leave
• Policies to support prevention of bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct
• The University has a network of trained Dignity Advisors who provide an informal, confidential information service to staff and students on issues relating to bullying, harassment, and sexual misconduct.
• The LCN mentoring and buddying schemes.
• Support networks including PACT (Parent and Carers Together), Out@UCL, RaceMatters@UCL
• Report and Support, anonymous bullying and harassment reporting tool
The LCN and UCL have a zero tolerance policy on bullying and harassment of any kind. We strive to create an environment that is free from bullying and harassment, and aim to foster an environment where all staff and students feel they are able to report any bullying or harassment they witness or experience. We will use, amongst other mechanisms, the LCN biannual survey, UCL staff survey, and departmentally-based training to try to achieve this goal.
