Safety
IMD provides access to state-of-the-art equipment across the 2 campuses. To protect staff, students and visitors, all IMD lab and facility activity must follow UCL Safety Services requirements.
Before starting any work in IMD spaces or using IMD equipment, you must ensure the activity is risk assessed and the controls are followed. UCL requires risk assessments to be recorded using the riskNET risk assessment module (except dynamic risk assessment).
All work activities must be risk assessed and reviewed regularly to ensure safe working.
For access, inductions, and practical lab support across Bloomsbury and UCL East, contact IMD and the IMD Laboratories Manager:

Hazardous waste must be managed so that it does not cause harm or damage, and UCL departments must have arrangements for correct classification, labelling and storage prior to disposal.
Plan hazardous waste handling as part of your activity risk assessment.
