Through a combination of lectures, discussions, workshops and virtual lab visits, you will discover the world leading research being undertaken at UCL to address these issues. Selecting a solution which you find inspiring, you will develop your communication skills to present to the cohort your understanding of the problem and how we can address it. This may be in the form of a news article, short talk or other format.
The research carried out to solve major challenges relies on an interdisciplinary approach, on scientists being able to cross disciplinary boundaries and think outside the limitations of traditional subjects. The Natural Sciences degree is UCL’s flagship interdisciplinary programme, aiming to develop scientists prepared to tackle such issues, with agile thinking based on a breadth of knowledge allowing them to comfortably sit at the boundaries between subjects. UCL Natural Sciences is a virtual department offering a degree where students draw together elements of Physics, Astrophysics, Medical Physics, Mathematics and Statistics, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, and Science and Technology Studies. Many of these departments directly contribute to research finding solutions for global challenges.
In addition to the above, attendees at this event will also receive appropriate advice on careers, UCAS applications and personal statements.
