Connor Burke
To explore sea ice thickness and snow depth in the Antarctic.
PhD project title:
Exploring retrievals of sea ice and snow using the SWOT satellite and multi-frequency analysis.
Project description:
Connor completed an undergraduate in mathematics at the University of Reading before working as a model developer within the engineering industry before becoming a freelance sustainability analyst. He made the transition into the environmental sciences when completing an MSc Environmental Modelling at UCL. After a career break to travel he joins the CPOM team to complete his PhD.
Connor is supervised by Dr Rosemary Willatt and Dr Harry Heorton at UCL. His research will leverage the SWOT satellite to explore sea ice thickness and snow depth in the Antarctic, with multi-frequency analysis and a potential focus on the Marginal Ice Zone.
Connor is funded by NERC and is on the first cohort of the TREES DLA programme.
