Research Summary
My research interests lie within micropalaeontology with a focus on Cenozoic planktonic foraminifera. I am interested in the wide range of utilities of planktonic foraminifera such as taxonomy, evolution, and geochemistry. A particular focal point of my research has been high-resolution biostratigraphy and stratigraphic correlation to help calibrate the geological timescale. I also have an interest in Cenozoic palaeoceanography and palaeoclimatology, as well as ocean research drilling.
I am currently involved with the NERC TONIC grant, where I will be utilising planktonic foraminifera as proxies to reconstruct palaeoceanographic and palaeoclimatic changes during the Oligocene (~34-23 million years ago). Additionally, I am part of the Neogene planktonic foraminifera working group, which aims to standardise the taxonomy of the group, in order to aid their wide range of applications.
