Our outreach programmes have been designed to get students excited about chemistry, to show them the real-life applications of chemistry and explore the depth and breadth of how chemistry influences the world we live in.

For all outreach enquiries, please contact outreach.chem@ucl.ac.uk.

Talks & Lectures:

The following events are run in schools:

  • Spectroscopy in a Suitcase
  • Visits by Student Ambassadors
  • Chemical Demonstrations
  • Chemistry Lectures and talks

The UCL Science Centre runs Friday evening lectures on a range of scientific topics that are aimed at year 12 and 13 students, and teachers.

Demonstration Lectures for Schools

Members of staff may be able to visit schools, colleges or science fairs to give lectures or demonstrations. The lectures last between 30 and 50 minutes, and are particularly suitable for students in Years 11, 12 and 13. We are also happy to include information about choosing a chemistry course, and the UCL Chemistry Department, with these talks. There is no charge for these lectures and so are usually limited to one per school per year.

School visits are free of charge but we ask that an audience of at least 100 students will attend. For smaller groups, we would be pleased to welcome you to UCL for one of our events held in the Chemistry Department, where there is no minimum group size.
