Peer Feedback Project
Enhancing teaching & learning using Peer Feedback
Peer Feedback is a proven educational strategy which can reduce staff workload and improve student “feedback literacy”, i.e. students’ ability to give, receive and act on feedback effectively. MAPS is providing staff with a new tool to set up Peer Feedback activities for the 25/26 academic year, which makes the process quick and easy - Feedback Fruits. If you would like to get started, this short video explains how to find the activity and how to add it to your course.
You can access the example Peer Review activity shown in the video through the MAPS Moodle Repository. If you would like personal support setting up a Peer Feedback activity, please contact the Faculty Learning Technology Lead, Richard Osborne. You can also watch a brief overview of the tool at the company’s YouTube channel.
Background
In 2024/25 we piloted this software with 9 departments from across MAPS and the results were very positive. Not only did we see reduced staff workload but evidence of increased student ‘feedback literacy’ across the activities. We define ‘feedback literacy’ as the ability to effectively give feedback to peers, understand the value of feedback when it is received and act on that received feedback positively.
If you’re interested to learn more you can watch this video summarising that evaluation.
