What is MFL?

We are the largest research and teaching hub at UCL East

We bring together world-leading manufacturing research and academics from four UCL departments: Biochemical, Chemical and Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry. Social and environmental responsibility is at the heart of our students', researchers' and teachers' missions.

We boast brand-new, state-of-the-art facilities

We have a wetlab, drylab, biocontainment lab, precision fabrication workshop and more (including a microbrewery!). With all this to hand, our students and researchers are set up for success.

We create solutions for a changing world

Our research focuses on how this changing world will look and advance for the next generation, with sustainable manufacturing technologies underpinning our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
