Getting to Bloomsbury

1. Heathrow airport

Travelling to and from Heathrow:

Tube: Piccadilly line to Holborn or Russell Square.
Travel to and from Heathrow will be affected by engineering work on the new Terminal 5. (Buses will replace the Tube for some of the journey).
Please check the Heathrow airport website or the London Underground (Tube) website for more information.

Journey time approximately 1 hour.
Heathrow airport is in Zone 6. A single Tube ticket to central London from Heathrow costs £3.80.

A quicker but more expensive option from Heathrow to central London is the Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station.
Journey time approximately 15 minutes.
Return ticket £25.
Tube lines from Paddington: Circle, Hammersmith and City line or Metropolitan line to Euston Square or King's Cross.

Also the Heathrow Airbus ('A2') goes to Euston and Russell Square.
Journey time approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
Return ticket £10.
Taxis: Please note that Heathrow, Luton, Stansted and Gatwick airports are some distance from central London. Taxi fares are therefore expensive - a taxi fare to Bloomsbury will be in the region of £80-£90.

Travelling to and from Gatwick:
Gatwick offers fast, frequent train services to London:

Trains to Victoria station:

(Train to Victoria then Victoria line tube to Euston station)

Gatwick Express to Victoria station
Journey time approximately 30 minutes.
Return ticket for Gatwick-Victoria Express £19.50

Connex train to Victoria station
Journey time approx 35 minutes. Return ticket £16.40.
To King's Cross Thameslink train
Journey time approximately 45 minutes. Return ticket £10.50.
Train to London Bridge from Gatwick:
Journey time approx 55 mins. Return ticket £ 10.50
(Train to London Bridge, then Northern line tube to Euston or King's Cross).

Buses: There are bus services from under Gatwick terminal building.
Taxis: Please note that Heathrow, Luton, Stansted and Gatwick airports are some distance from central London. Taxi fares are therefore expensive - a taxi fare to Bloomsbury will be in the region of £80-£90.
By Road: London Gatwick is 45kms (28 miles) south of London, directly linked to the M23 motorway at junction 9 and to the A23 London-Brighton road. Just a 10 minute drive away, the M25 further connects with the UK's extensive road and motorway network.

3. Stansted airport

By Train:
The fastest and most frequent link from Stansted to Central London is the 'Skytrain' rail service to London Liverpool Street. There is a stop at Tottenham Hale, connecting with the Victoria line of the Underground (to King's Cross, Euston, Warren Street), or
Train from airport to Liverpool Street, then Circle or Hammersmith and City line tube to King's Cross or Euston Square, or
Central tube line to Holborn or Tottenham Court Road.
Trains run every 30 minutes from 06:00 to 08:00 and then every 15 minutes until 17:00 and then a half hourly service until midnight. Departures from London are on the hour and half hour, journey time approximately 45 minutes and a single fare costs £13.80.

By Car
Stansted is on the M11 motorway at Junction 8. The M11 connects with the M25 London Orbital Motorway at Junction 27, approximately 20 minutes drive south of the airport.
Journey time to central London is 55-80 minutes.

4. Luton airport

easyBus operates an express minibus service to/from London (Hendon Central), 7 days a week, from as little as £1 one way. (Bay 4 outside the main terminal building. Direct service with no stops). You can book tickets online.
Greenline
Greenline 757 (Bay 10-12): An Express Service to Central London and the West End. Stops include Brent Cross, Finchley Road, Baker Street, Marble Arch and Victoria.
National Express
Jetlink/ Flightlink/ Airlink (Bay 4-6): High frequency services to numerous destinations.


5. London City airport

There is no rail or Tube station at London City airport but there are frequent shuttlebuses to central London and to connect with the Jubilee line at Canning Town and Canary Wharf. Journey time to central London is approx 30 minutes.

The Blue shuttlebus to Liverpool Street Station connects with the Circle, Hammersmith & City line, and the Metropolitan line to King's Cross and Euston Square.
Shuttlebus fare to Liverpool Street is £6.00.
Single tube ticket for Zone 1 central London is £2.00,

The Blue shuttlebus to Canary Wharf connects with the Jubilee line. Shuttlebus fare to Canary Wharf is £3.50.
Single Tube ticket to central London is £2.30.

The green shuttlebus operates a service to Canning Town where it connects with the Jubilee line. Change at London Bridge for Northern line to King's Cross or Euston. Change at Green Park for Piccadilly line to Holborn or Russell Square.

Shuttlebus to Canning Town fare is £3.00.
Single Tube ticket to central London is £2.80.

By Taxi
The taxi rank is outside the terminal building.
The taxi fare to Bloomsbury is approx £25-£30.


TO LONDON BY TRAIN:

Eurostar to Waterloo International train station

Tube from Waterloo station: Northern line to Goodge Street, Tottenham Court Road, Euston, or King's Cross.
Bus stops outside Waterloo in direction of Euston: buses 59, 68, 188, 168, 188 (all stop on Russell Square).

Journey time approximately 15 minutes.
