Professor Alan Thompson, Dean of Brain Sciences, is UCL's Pro-Provost (London).

As Pro-Provost (London), Professor Alan Thompson leads UCL's London work to advance its position as London's Global University. 

Professor Thompson is UCL's London Champion in Chief, he is the figurehead for UCL's London activity. He oversees, guides and connects the university's London-focused engagement. 

Working with London, for London 

Professor Thompson's role sees him engaging with our local communities, policymakers, local government and other partners and supporters of UCL in London. His goal, to maximise the opportunities to and from London of UCL’s research, teaching, business and public engagement.

My role provides a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of UCL in London and to underline how London benefits from UCL, and, in turn, how UCL benefits from being at the very heart of London. I look forward to engaging with everyone working in this space at UCL to achieve our objectives.
