Cruciform Teaching Laboratories

The Cruciform Teaching Laboratories (CTL) are part of the Faculty of Life Sciences and support teaching for students within the Faculty of Life Sciences as well as MBBS students.

Since September 2000, the restored University College Hospital building now known as the Cruciform Building, has been host to the CTL, in addition to a purpose-built IT cluster, medical science library, a suite of seminar rooms and two large lecture theatres. This multifunctional teaching resource is capable of holding more than 400 students and consists of five teaching laboratories located within two floors of the Cruciform Building.

A team of highly skilled technical staff support the teaching activities overseen by two lab managers. The laboratories were designed for students attending a variety of practical classes, two of which have each been fitted with 48 networked computers with touch screen displays and 40 inch HD overhead monitors which hold the key to modern teaching methods. In addition, laboratories can be 'linked' together to allow the audio visual 'feed' from one wing to be received in another.
