Module aims:The skilful child & adolescent mental health practitioner is able to: -Work within an ethical and child-centred framework -Address the multiple influences on children’s mental health -Adapt their approach appropriately according to the developmental stage, presenting problem, personality and life history of children and families -Facilitate positive mental health through individual work with children, group work, work with parents and work with whole families -Work sensitively and usefully with diversity -Reflect on the links between clinical practice and themselves Clinical Skills I and II aim to equip students with the above skills. These skills are largely independent of specific therapeutic approaches, but specific approaches and their requisite skills will at times be covered, in so far as they intersect with the more generic skills listed above.
