Module outline:Lecture topics include: learning to use devices; expert interactive behaviour; human error; searching for information on the web; evaluating systems. 
Module aims:To discuss a range of topics that explain the behaviour of people with interactive systems, and that inform the design and evaluation of such systems. 
Module objectives:Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is the study of people, computer technology and the ways these influence each other. We study HCI to understand how we can make technology more usable by people. This applied module is both a survey of HCI research and an introduction to the cognitive science knowledge and techniques useful in the design of computing systems for human use. Particular emphasis is placed on applying knowledge of the basic psychological phenomena of human cognition, memory, and problem solving and on how those processes relate to and condition the interaction between humans and interactive computing systems.
