Module prerequisites:This module is available only to students on the intergrated BSc programmes in Neuroscience, Physiology and Physiology/Pharmacology. 
Module outline:Neurosurgery is a broad field covering a range of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions that target pathological processes affecting the brain, spine and peripheral nerves. The course consists of a comprehensive course of lectures on neuroanatomy, neurophysiology and pathology, diagnostic techniques and therapeutic interventions. 
Module aims:The aim of the course is to introduce students to the science and clinical applications of neurosurgery in modern medical practice. 
Module objectives:By completion of the course the student will have an understanding of the range of conditions that a neurosurgeon encounters, the different techniques currently available in the neurosurgical armamentarium and they way in which new advances are being developed.  
Key skills provided by module:Key skills provided by module: surgical neuroanatomy, interpretation of cranial imaging and a broad knowledge or the science that underpins advances in neurosurgery.
