Module prerequisites:Avaialble to Masters students only.  
Module outline:A fundamental aspect of scientific research requires the ability to acquire information from original scientific papers, to analyse critically the content and quality of published scientific studies and to present and discuss the scientific literature with ones peers. Teaching will consist of seminars and discussion sessions.  
Module aims:The aims of this module are to provide a formal framework in which students will be able to develop their skills, to an advanced research level, in reading and analysing the scientific literature, and in the presentation of such analysis.

Module assessment:Coursework (1,000 words) 40.00%
Critical review (2,500 words) 60.00% 
Notes:Assessment will be 100% coursework consisting of two assignments: Short Report on a general scientific paper - 40%. Detailed critique on a paper specific to the subject stream of the student - 60%. Additionally, students will present the subject specific paper to their fellow students for discussion.
