Module prerequisites:Programme specific core module for BSc Human Sciences and MSci Human Sciences and Evolution. This module is not available to students on any other degree programme. 
Module outline:An introductory module in human sciences that will provide an understanding of the basic principles of biosciences as applied to humans. Topics will include biochemistry, cell biology, evolutionary biology, genetics, health and diseases, and molecular biology. 
Module aims:BIOS1001 will provide an introduction to Human Sciences for new students on the Human Sciences degrees. It will promote integration across disciplines and enable both academic and social bonding amongst the students. 
Module objectives:Students are expected to learn basic principles in biosciences as they apply to the human species and to integrate this with principles learnt form other core modules (ANAT1003 and ANTH1014).  
Key skills provided by module:Students will develop independent learning skills, problem solving, writing, and presentational skills.
