Overview - Italian (all levels)

These ten-week online evening courses are open to everyone and will help you to communicate effectively in Italian.

Two-hour classes are held once a week on weekday evenings from 5pm or 7pm, depending on the class/level.

Courses are taught at various levels, from complete beginner to proficiency. You can start at any level (if you meet the entry requirements) and you'll be able to progress to the next level after ten weeks.

These courses are run by the UCL Centre for Languages & International Education (CLIE).

These courses will give you the opportunity to revise and develop your existing skills and communicate more confidently in Italian.

You'll expand you vocabulary range and learn new grammar structures.

You'll further develop your cultural awareness, your language learning skills and your ability to approach authentic material.

On completing these two levels, you'll be able to communicate in Italian in most common situations, follow discussion and debates on current issues and discuss personal, social and current issues using appropriate structures and range of vocabulary.

Detailed course content can be found on the CLIE website.

Levels 4 & 4+ - Advanced Italian

These courses are designed for advanced-level students to develop greater fluency and confidence.

The courses will focus on developing a deeper understanding of Italian culture and society using authentic material (i.e. TV news, newspapers, films).

You'll improve your command of topic-related vocabulary and ability to vary your style according to the situation. Grammar issues will also be revised through authentic texts.

In order to encourage active and meaningful communication, some topics will be agreed between students and the tutor at the beginning of the course.
