This Summer School will give you a taste of studying architecture at The Bartlett School of Architecture.
You can choose to attend for 5 days, 10 days or 3 weeks.
You also have the option of attending an additional two-day Portfolio Workshop and/or Maker's Week at the end of your chosen Summer School.
You'll explore imaginative thinking, surveying, speculation and construction, making use of The Bartlett’s outstanding workshops and facilities.
You can expect to produce a range of work including drawings, models and larger-scale installations.
Who the Summer School is for
The Summer School is open to 16 to 18-year-olds from all over the world.
What it involves
You'll be using The Bartlett’s facilities and studios and UCL’s associated facilities. We'll stage a practical symposium to survey, speculate and construct.
You'll work in groups and individually under the instruction of The Bartlett’s highly skilled teaching staff.
You'll create structures, events, films or whatever is required to enliven and challenge spaces around the school and offsite.
Previous years' students have produced boats, bridges, shadow-puppet theatres and large models as well as a range of projects at multiple scales. Find out more about previous years' Summer Schools in our image gallery.
You'll receive a Certificate of Study on completion of the course.
Portfolio Workshop and Maker's Week
The weekend Portfolio Workshop will help you consolidate the work you've produced and learn how to make a portfolio for university entry or to improve your portfolio skills.
The Maker’s Week is a one-week course where you'll be introduced to new architectural materials and skills, working with B-made, The Bartlett Manufacturing and Design Exchange.
Both this workshop and Maker's Week are optional extras for those attending the Summer School.
