Story between me and GEE
My lab moved from Seattle to London in 2021. This was one of the best choices I have made in my life. My lab studies how microbes interact and evolve, using techniques from experimental biology and mathematical modelling. I have already forged strong connections with colleagues from my own department and Departments of Mathematics and Physics.
I also love interactive teaching with my students, sharing with them the wonders of combining biology with mathematics. Working with enthusiastic students and alumni of the GEE Alumni Association has been gratifying - I have been super impressed by how talented and dedicated our students are!
Finally, a huge thank you to GEE - I love the CLOE retreat weekends at Blakeney Point. It was a lot of fun trying new activities such as cyanoprints and Bananagrams! And of course, Duncan's cooking was amazing!!
Wish list
A bigger GEE endowment to support more undergraduate summer research internships; have better memories (especially for people's names and faces)
Hobbies
Gardening/hiking/enjoying the fruits of others' creativity ranging from music, theatre, films, and restaurants.
