The network brings people together through three activities:
Virtual Exchange
An online opportunity for undergraduates studying pharmacy to be meet up with undergraduates students from UCL and around the word to broaden their understanding of how pharmacy works across the globe. The students share and learn about career pathways, healthcare needs, teaching approaches, and cultural aspects, and develop their professional network. Annually in January.
Online Conference
An online event over three days with sessions on pharmaceutical research, education and outreach, and practice and policy. This conference is a chance for postgraduate students to senior professors from all network institutions to share their research relating to global questions or offer insights which could benefit global communities. Annually in June/July.
Bulletin
A regular newsletter which will be shared with UCL School of Pharmacy academic staff and PhDs, and similar groups at other PharmacyLinks institutions. This is a place to make links through sharing opportunities – chances for academic mobility, conferences, job openings, funding open to international collaborations, summer schools, requests for a specific type of expertise/equipment, amongst others. 8-10 editions per year.
PharmacyLinks aims to minimise barriers to collaboration, asking “what can we do now?” using existing or informal structures rather, than laborious construction of formal agreements. Its membership has come about primarily from continuing links with UCL alumni, collaborations, but is open to any pharmacy-related department at a university. For information about how you might get involved, contact Dr Chris Serpell (chris.serpell@ucl.ac.uk).
