Global Engagement
The School of Pharmacy’s motto is “Salutifer orbi” – “bringing health to the world” – and engagement with partners across the world has been a key part of our mission from our foundation.
Our student and staff population is highly international, and most academics are engaged in international collaborations of one kind or another. On top of this, we also lead and work in a number of specific international networks.
PharmAlliance
PharmAlliance (https://www.pharmalliance.org/) is a strategic partnership between three global leaders: UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA, Monash University Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Australia, and the School of Pharmacy at University College London.
PharmAlliance provides a community platform for working together on big ideas and solutions that will improve human health around the world. This partnership is for faculty, staff, and students who want to improve global healthcare through innovation in pharmacy education, research, practice and student collaboration through outreach & engagement.
ULLA
ULLA (https://ullapharmsci.org/) is a European university consortium for pharmaceutical sciences. The network aims to enhance collaboration within education and research in pharmaceutical sciences between its 10 partners (VU Amsterdam, University of Copenhagen, Université Paris-Saclay, University of Helsinki, Università di Parma, Leiden University, Uppsala University, KU Leuven, Université de Genève, and UCL). Its main activities include organizing summer schools, workshops and lectures, coordinating joint EU applications, and supporting exchange of staff and students.
PharmacyLinks
PharmacyLinks is an initiative of UCL Pharmacy which fosters collaborations and sharing of opportunities in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences across the globe. It is an inclusive network which aims to reduce barriers to participation, and has over 20 members, representing pharmacy departments across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. We are always open to new members.
The principal activities of PharmacyLinks are a virtual exchange for undergraduate pharmacy students, an online conference (both annual), and a regular newsletter. Contact the School of Pharmacy’s Global Engagement Coordinator (Dr Chris Serpell, chris.serpell@ucl.ac.uk) if you would like to be involved.
International Pharmaceutical Federation
The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP www.fip.org ) is the global leadership body for pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences and pharmaceutical education. Through 160 national organisations, FIP has representation for over 5.5 million pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists and pharmaceutical educators worldwide. FIP’s mission is to support global health by advancing pharmaceutical practice, sciences, and education, advocating for the profession in healthcare systems worldwide.
Through strong global leadership, and a formal partnership with WHO, FIP supports the strengthening of practice, science and education to meet global healthcare needs and expectations. UCL has close partnership and collaboration with FIP, providing leadership and support for initiatives such as the Global Pharmaceutical Observatory (https://gpo.fip.org ), global workforce development and medicines policy implementation.
