About our department
Chemistry is a core component of the Masters in Pharmacy professional degree with teaching across all four years of the course. Additionally, the Department offers two taught postgraduate Masters in Science courses in Drug Discovery and Development and Drug Discovery and Pharma Management. A Master of Research (MRes) course is available in any of the research disciplines of the Department.

Research overview
Our department is home to an outstanding research culture that includes major funded projects in medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, nucleic acids, protein science, nanoparticles and pharmacognosy.
We conduct this research with excellent facilities supported by dedicated technical staff for:
- NMRspectroscopy (including a 600 MHz instrument with QCI-F probe and SampleJet suitable for protein-small molecule screening applications)
- Mass Spectrometry (including a high throughput Agilent AdvanceBio LC-QTOF instrument)
- HPLC and other capabilities such as cell culture, circular dichroism and peptide synthesis.
