The philosophy and scope of the new edition are the same as for earlier editions; the book comprehensively covers all aspects of pharmaceutics and is intended for newcomers to the formulation and manufacture of medicines. The content has been extensively revised and updated to reflect innovations and developments in the pharmaceutical science employed in the design, manufacture, delivery and quality control of modern medicines. This encompasses, for instance, recent advances in the formulation and delivery of small drug molecules, biopharmaceuticals (including antibodies, vaccines and cell therapies) and nanomedicines, the availability of methods for continuously making medicines and innovative methods for manufacturing personalised medicines.
