Professor Tara Keck joins expert panel at launch of UNFPA State of World Population report

Last month Professor Tara Keck from UCL’s Neuroscience, Physiology and Pharmacology department in the Division of Biosciences was an expert panel member at the launch of the landmark United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) State of World Population Report 2023 on April 19. This year’s version of the annual report celebrates the advances and discusses the anxieties associated with the world population passing 8 billion in November 2022.

Professor Keck spoke about her research in the area of healthy ageing and demographic resilience of populations, how we can support older people as our population demographics continue to change and the importance of taking a life-cycle approach to healthy ageing.  

She stated, “It was really interesting to take part in this panel to launch the UNFPA State of the World Population Report 2023, which highlights both policy and community initiatives globally that can support rights, health and well-being throughout the lifespan, as well as demographic resilience of societies. There was an exciting discussion about the opportunities and challenges associated with a growing world population, particularly for sustainably supporting healthy ageing”.
