Development
We study the development of pain, somatosensory and sensorimotor systems in human and animal models, focusing on spinal, subcortical and cortical circuits' formation.
Plasticity
We explore how plasticity shapes pain, somatosensory and sensorimotor systems, linking early life adversity with adult adaptation to reveal mechanisms of resilience, vulnerability, and flexibility.
Chronicity
We investigate how stress and other life experiences shape resilience or susceptibility to chronic pain by driving molecular mechanisms, including epigenetic changes, that sustain its chronicity.
